Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo

27/1/2016

The Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo is common here, in the 'Top End", Northern Territory Australia.

We see them solo or they may be in any number flying free.   Their screeching call can be heard out wide, and we often hear them at sunset, or on a moonlit evening, as they settle for the night.

This particular bird had found the seed pods of an acacia tree and is enjoying the feast.

Native Cycad

At the end of our 'dry season' new life sprouts from the brown earth and the deciduous plants.   I love this regeneration - it is the time to absorb this energy, to appreciate Nature as she gives to us her beauty, her colours and new life.

These new fronds of the cycad are soft and furry, as they gracefully unfurl.

Small Frog

I love the wildlife visitors to our garden.   We have been living here for 28 years and this year is the first time I have seen this type of small green frog. They are quite good with camouflage.

I am still working on a children's book about frogs and I will be also illustrating it.   These 'visitors' help with my illustrating.

Green Tree Frog

It is now our 'wet season' and the storms bring the green tree frogs out, especially at night when they can be heard croaking in our backyard.

This frog appeared settled on this leaf of our bromeliad  plant as I took several photographs without flash yesterday - the day was overcast.

I have taken many photographs of the frogs in our garden over the years and I am now about to publish a childrens book with frogs as the main characters - illustrated with my frog photographs.

Hibiscus Blooms

I love taking photographs in my garden.  The hibiscus are now flowering. The buds open early in the morning and the flowers only last one day.  It is precious being able to have them forever in a photograph and to be able to share their beauty with the world web. my family and friends on FB and Google+ Communities.  Hope you enjoy these beauties, just one of the many wonders of Nature.

Much Love,  Lexene.
