In the Top End of Australia, we had the first good rains of our wet/monsoonal season this week, with its effects already being seen.
The insects are breeding, and many of the native trees are flowering, The colour of the landscape is already changing from from dry brown earth and vegetation, to what will be a carpet of wildflowers and grasses as green shoots appear.
The bare branches of the deciduous trees are bursting with new life as fresh bright coloured leaves appear and the buds of bush flowers bloom.
These photographs taken in the early morning sun, after the rain.
